PPP Wedding

How fun is this, PayPerPost is looking for a couple to wed in Vegas PPP style. The Pay Per Post and will include a bunch of neat goodies. Pay Per Post will provide the lucky couple with the license, the ceremony and a night in a hotel. Check out the video for additional details. Pay special attention to 1:10 after she mentions you will be staying in a luxury hotel. Not sure if that noise is a "baum chica wow wow" noise meets a "cat call" meets cat woman's "rawwww" noise, but it sure was cute!

Final Fantasy XII

DH is such a goober, he left work early so we could go to the mall and get Final Fantasy XII. Thankfully he did not go to the midnight release party last night! He did however trade in a bunch of his games while he was there, so he had a nice $27 credit towards the game.

Newgie.com

Today I found a really net website called www.newgie.com, which is a news website that hase up to date and current news from sources all over the net. This is not unusual in istelf, but what I DO like is that you can sort news in a number of different ways such as 'newsiness' or 'latest'. I really like this feature because I may miss the story everyone is talking about just because it came out hours before and they have moved onto a newer story.

The other feature I love about this website is the mouse over feature which shows you more of the story just by running your mouse over the headline. By running your mouse over the headline, it also gives you the option to rate, save, or discuss and share the headline. And of course it has a feed option so you can add it to your own website or blog, or even your frontpage or feed-viewer.

I really enjoy the look at the feel of the interface, it is simple and elegant without being overpowering with huge ads like a lot of other news sites. I also like how easy it was to join, it literally took seconds. You should check out Newgie.com, it is a really neat concept and great place to find news about any topic you can think of!

Happy birthday my beautiful baby. It was nine years ago today that my life changed forever (for the better of course) and felt that my life had purpose. I knew I was meant to be your mama, and that you were meant to be my son. All worries, and fears I had about my future and about being a mom diapered the second I held you in my arms the first time.

Looking into your eyes, I knew there was a purpose, I knew that God existed and you made me believe in everything in life that is good. I knew unconditional love existed and I finally understood the term "a mother's love" and how strong and pure a mother's love really is.

You were the most beautiful baby I had ever seen. You were so tiny, so fragile, so perfect. You did not cry, but whimper, much like a little puppy. You did not have a care in the world and you did not object to anything around you. You were so laid back and just took everything in and accepted it immediately.

Christopher is officially NINE!!

Today (I know it is really the 31st, but I have not been to bed yet so it's still today) Christopher had his birthday bash. Since he is a Halloween baby we always do something before or after his actual birthday so as to not have a confliction with Trick-or-Treating.
Christopher chose to celebrate his birthday by dinner out to Red Lobster. We all ordered crab legs, except daddy the weirdo who got steak and lobster. Even the baby munched on crab. After dinner we came home and carved pumpkins and ate chocolate cake with chocolate frosting decorated by Christopher (a family tradition). He then got to blow out candles and open gifts (mostly cash) and then it was off to bed. Sappy Birthday posts to follow... it's not every day that you get to relive such a memorable event!!

(No, it's not the mumps, it's the birthday boy making a wish!)

Nine Years ago Today

Nine years ago today I was convinced I would be pregnant forever and that I would NEVER go into labor. I also NEVER wanted to be pregnant again. I was 41 weeks pregnant with a VERY stubborn child that we would either name Ashley or Christopher. Bobby and I had just moved into my mom's basement as he was scheduled to leave for Oklahoma in less than 3 weeks for 5 months of basic training for the Army and my mom wanted to save us rent money and help me with our first baby.

I had seen the midwife earlier that morning who told me he would be seeing my that evening IF I got some sleep. Of course I was convinced he was full of shit because I was going to going to be pregnant forever. I had also been having contractions for what seems like forever (since way before my due date, October 24th).

I was so excited, yet scared to be a mom for the first time. I was 18 and had plenty of experience babysitting my niece and nephews, and other kids, so I was not worried about taking care of a baby, I was more worried about being responsible for this little person for the rest of his or her life.

Even the night of the 29th I called and was almost told to go to labor and delivery, but then my contractions stopped, much as they had before in the previous weeks.

Shortly before midnight I was on the phone with the hospital once again as I was not sure if my water had broken. I had a small leak, but no pop and gush like I was told to expect... for this reason alone I was skeptical I would be admitted to the hospital and fully expected the hospital to send me home.

"Are you in a better mood now?"

What the heck?? I was checking MySpace today, because its been a while and I was listening to profile songs and I turned it to my own profile to listen to some John Mayer, because like a Dee Dee Dee I did not THINK of turning on MusicMatch and listening to the Continuum CD I uploaded to my hard drive.

So anyways, I am listening to John sing about Slow Dancing in a Burning Room my husband turns to me and says "are you in a better mood now?" I naturally look at him like he's smoking crack and ask him what he's talking about since I was never in a bad mood to begin with. And he says "now that you have your boyfriend, do you feel better?" What a goob!! Yet he's the one sitting next to me dancing to John Mayer... so ask yourself this? Are YOU in a better mood dear husband?? Hahaha... don't get me wrong here, I have been waiting my entire marriage to find a band/group/musician that I absolutely love that my husband does not despise. Thank you John, for bringing musical peace into my home!

Home-Fashioned Chocolates

In light of the recent toddler crabbiness, I could seriously use a long hot bubble bath, relaxing music, candles, a glass of wine and some Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolate. Have you seen these lovely chocolates? What a simply divine indulgence for a occasional decadent treat.
These candies look so delicious, especially the cherrycordials, my favorite type of chocolate.

Mrs. Cavanaugh's really has something for everyone...

  • Traditional Assortment
  • Chocolate Creams
  • Pecan Cavaliers
  • Cherry Cordials
  • Tantalizing Truffles
  • Nuts and Cashews
  • Crunchy Brittles
  • Sugarless Chocolates (this would make a great gift diabetic chocolate lovers)
  • Chocolate & Nuts
  • Roasted Nuts
  • Most Famous
  • Fantastic Fudge

I think my favorite would be the chocolate creams which includes such flavors as Orange, Lemon Creme, Raspberry, Vanilla, Buttercreams, French Mint, Maple Nut, Rum Victoria, Black Walnut, and many others. Just looking at these different assortments of premium candy make my mouth water.

I love this assortment of chocolates, I have never been one for plain chocolate, except for white chocolate. I do however like milk chocolates if they are mixed with fruits, nuts, or creams. I have never really cared for dark chocolates, but those are Bobby's favorites, so I usually give those to him. I also really do not like chocolate covered caramels, unless they are really soft, which is hard to find in grocery store boxed candies which are usually a mixture of a few good candies and even more gross ones.

I don't think I have had an opportunity to truly get pampered since Matthew was born 19 months ago. By the time he goes to bed at night I am too tired to go through all the motions of drawing a bath and gathering candies, and candles and oils. Maybe my husband will read this and treat me with a trip to the day spa for my birthday, I am so overdue for some pampering.

Who are you and what did you do with my sweet baby?

Matthew is driving me crazy today, he has been climbing up on my cupboards, getting into stuff that he shouldn't be. He is repeatedly playing the most obnoxious loud toy, and he is throwing monster-tantrums for no reason at all.

Who has my sweet little baby?? Are they looking for their missing cranky toddler??

Garden Gnomes

When my mom went to Norway a few summers back to see where our family came from, she fell in love with these cute little gnomes and had to buy one for each one of us girls. It was a less traditional gnome and had hair like a troll doll. It is so cute and pudgy and has a nice little home in my entertainment center. It came with a puzzle block with pictures of more traditional garden gnomes. I have always loved garden gnomes, but always been afraid of putting them in my garden as I have always worried about 'gnome-napping', especially if it was a unique gnome like these naughty gnomes! You can't replace those ones with gnomes you find down at the neighborhood garden center!

The types of gnomes I like best are the ones that look much like my own Nordic Gnome, with earthier colors and more subtle features, something closer to the german garden gnomes. Those are some cute little guys. My favorite is the little guy on the left, although my sister made one quite similar to the little guy on the bottom right hand corner one year in her ceramic class that I loved.

Important Information

For those of you who use Charlie's for diapers, PLEASE make an informed decision.

There is a buzz about Charlie's being the same as Sport Wash. Sport's Wash has cased MANY babies to get burns on their bottoms, and I had mixed results with it on Matthew's diapers. Personally I have a hard time believing this is the case, just because we had poor results after time with SportsWash, but Charlie's has been very kind on his bum. If the claim is true about Charlie's being the same as SportWash and just labeled differently I would think Matthew would have the same redness problems.

I recently read this thread about Charlie's and SportWash and many other mamas are reporting the same findings as I am... different results from the different labels. The information I gathered from this thread is clear, if you use Charlie's, you may need to use a small amount of bleach in addition to the soap to make sure that all that the diaper is completely disinfected and all bacteria is killed.

I think I will be calling in the morning to see if I can get an official policy.

In any case, I still LOVE Charlie's, I just don't want to blindly endorse it.

"Think of me as a Mexican Sheep Dog"

Bobby's co-worker loves the Dog Whisperer and has rubbed off on my husband. He got me interested when I watched some clips on the National Geographic Channel Website. Cesar Millan does some very impressive work with some very bad dogs. Many of these dogs are aggressive, shy, or just plain crazy! We just added The Dog Whisperer to our season pass manager and today four recorded for our enjoyment.

Today we have seen dogs that attack people, other animals, dogs who are too laid back and have to be carried or drug from place to place, to dos who are so timid they are . Cesar has some AMAZING animal mojo, and I am so impressed on how well he can whip these dogs into shape.
The pictures on this page are of my dog, Chloe who is napping in our family room with us right now. She's not an aggressive dog, that is for sure, but we will be trying some of the lessons Cesar Millan shows us to teach her how to properly great house-guests.

PS. The title of this blog is an actual Cesar Millan quote from a show on a sheep dog named Kobe.

Sunday, Bloody Sunday

Sunday is such a shuffle around here... we have to make sure all the papers are signed and in backpacks; make sure that coats, shoes and backpacks are in the right spot. We have to make sure everyone is bathed and ready. I was so thankful for Daylight Savings, just because it gave us an extra hour to get stuff done. Our dinner was early because our stomach's do not know to 'fall back', and it was very nice. Tomorrow morning is going to be a real bitch though when I am dragging my butt out of my warm downy bed at what it thinks is 5am.

Take Back the Capitol

Take a look at this video titled Take Back the Capitol! This video is a grass-roots political viral video dedicated to overturning the Republican control of Congress in the November,2006 election.

The video is very well done and makes some valid points. I believe any time you have an unbalance in anything, their is a corruption of power.

Open your mind and take a look, you may just learn a thing or two.

For Bobby

My dear husband,
you are so smart and tallented. You do not give yourself enough credit when it comes to school. I wish you would trust yourself more, you don't have enough confidence in your talents! You are an eloquent and capable writer, I promise you would be fine without my help.

I love you!

The Happy Ink Store

Not quite an easy button, but still easy. Print Country offers a wide selection of printer ink cartridges for very low prices. Because they want their customers to fall in love with their great services and super low prices they are offering Free Printer Ink Cartridge Samples to people with compatible printers. They think that once you try their services you will love them enough to keep going back.

Costumage

We finally got the older two kids their costumes. We ended up going to a Halloween store, just because I was not in the mood to fight over the last of the costumes at Target or Walmart, so I am sure we spent more, but oh well, its done. Austin is going to be an "unknown phantom", Christopher is going to be a "dark ninja", and Matthew is going to be a lion, his costume was purchesed weeks ago.

It worked out well that they found the costumes they liked, especially since the costumes they wanted they found on a flyer from another store. We had to compromise a bit with Austin who wanted to be the guy from "Scream".

We also got pumpkins today when we were picking up some groceries for dinner. I think we will be carving them tomorrow since we are going to Taekwondo Monday instead of Tuesday this week.

Weffriddles

Well, I got all the way to #41 last night, and then my computer would not go into hibernate, so I had to install a patch and restart it and I lost all my progress. Thankfully, Internet Explorer saved all my links and it was a sinch to get back to where I was. I knew the link of where I was, but the fantastic challenege of WeffRiddles is you often need to go back to puzzles you already did to find the answers, so I wanted to do it right.

I think before diving back in and giving myself a headache I am going to get some work done around the house.

Sucked into a mind numbing void…

...one named Weffriddles. It is EVIL!! Plain EVIL!

For two days I have been neglecting my family and have gotten stuck at #33.

After I finish this puzzle, if I ever see another nurlo again, I will cry!! Don't ask.

"Long Beautiful Hair"

We are a hairy family... all of us have longer than average hair lengths. Mine is to the middle of my back, Austin & Matthew's hair is shoulder length, and Bobby & Christopher's hair is to their collars. When I met Bobby, he had hair to the middle of his back.

The only thing I don't like about the children's hair is that it is that awkward mullet stage where it gets in their eyes and is hard to style. We need to go get it trimmed, but they are so worried that they will cut it too short.

I do have to admit that I sometimes feel social pressures to go cut their hair. I have family who will tease me and tell me to go get it cut. Matthew is often mistaken for a girl, which is irritating at times, but I understand how babies have not gained masculine or feminine personalities, so sometimes it is impossible to tell without hints from clothing or hair styles.

Hopefully, as it grows longer, they can avoid social pressures and be happy with who they are no matter what they look like, even if they don't conform to what society feels is "normal"... because what IS normal anyways???

Nosy Rosy

My baby has gone from curious, to just plain nosy! He digs through the garbage, the pulls anything out of cupboards he can, he pushes the chairs around to climb up to get stuff on the counters, he pulls clothes out of our dressers, digs in our nightstands, to recently empting a full roll of toilet paper paper into the toilet.

It's time to kick child proofing into full gear, but we are finding it is very hard to attatch latches to our cuppboards beecause of the way they are framed. Time to start searching the internet for child proofing supplies... until then, we are thankfull he cannot open doors yet.

6 Week Body Makeover

About three years ago I tried the 6 week body makeover and lost about thirty pounds pretty easily. I think the only reason why I was successful that time is that Bobby was in Iraq and I only had the kids and I to cook for. I would make two different meals at each mealtime and the weight really came off as long as I stuck to the program. When Bobby came home, the weight came back on because I did not stick to plan because it was too difficult to make the foods he liked and my own meals. The above link has a GREAT price on the plan though, I think I paid almost double that.

Honestly I am satisfied with the plan because I learned a lot about which food are good for weight loss, and which foods to avoid. I would also go back on plan in a heartbeat if I could convince my husband to do all the cooking for himself and the kids.

Sick day

I think Matthew gave me his cold. I woke up this morning with fire in my throat, a cough, and a sneeze that won't go away. I guess this is the price you have to pay for having children, especially with two in school. Austin has been my lifesaver this morning, he played with Matthew earlier so I could take a quick nap. He is such a great kid. At the moment he is telling me of a toy Christopher said he wanted since I still need to go get Christopher another birthday present.

Christopher was really crabby this morning, so I sent him to take a nap at lunch time and he's been sleeping for a couple hours. Matthew fell asleep about 30 minutes ago, so I am just catching up on work while the cold pills I took earlier are still working.

Cancelled

I woke up this morning to Bobby's work cell ringing at 4am. It was his co-worker and his students asking what the status of class was today, especially since finals were supposed to be today. Pair that with a restless night of sleep and I was none too happy with the ringing phones... afterall, this was supposed to be my day off since I did not have to get up early to get the boys off to school since they have a four day weekend for conferences.

So we turned on the TV to find out about cancelations to see if the base he works on was even open and we have no reception! Outside was NASTY, the roads were pure snow and the wind was gusting angrily. So we went downstairs and I was able to get on the internet long enough to learn that the base was closed except for mission esential personel, so class was cancelled.

The phone is ringing off the hook from his students, and he finally just called the First Seargent and told him to call them all and tell them. By now the internet is down and the power keep flickering and I am feeling pretty frustrated. Matthew woke up and he looked redder than normal and had a runny nose and a wet cough. When I went to change his diaper I notices an angry looking red rash on both of his knees. So I call the pediatrician to inquire on Matthew and check the status of Christopher's appointment to learn that they are closed.

So I get on the phone with my insurance and find that we have access to an health advice line and RNs. I call then and she HAS to mention that it is in the 80s where she is at. She mentions he may have Fifths Disease, a viral infection tht goes away on its own in about a month's time. So no need for a trip to the ER thankfully.

So I call the school to see if they are still having parent teacher conferences and for hours the line is busy. Bobby finally drives up there around 5 just to make sure they were cancelled because we did not want to chance missing them, and sure enough, they were closed. We decided to order chinese for dinner because no one wanted to cook, or leave the house.

Pretty lazy day, that is for sure!

Snowy Day!

Oh my goodness, we woke up to a BLIZZARD this morning... we had a full fledged blizzard warning in effect until 6pm today. I guess the snow started at 3am last night and it did not slow down until well after noon. Some areas got up to 14 inches with drifts up to five feet high in some area. Many people lost power for several hours and I-25 to Denver was closed most of the day.

The kids had a blast though... Austin and Chris built snowmen and forts. The snow was wet and sticky so it packed well to make perfect snowballs. Austin could not feel his chin or feet when he came inside. I pulled out my down comforter and curled up on the couch most of the day with my children and my husband. Other than the rants coming up, it was a nice day.

Elephant

Today at the sitters, Matthew started signing 'elephant'. I shrugged it off and told him "I don't see an elephant, where do you see one?" He points to her fish tank and signs 'elephant' again, I corrected him and said "that is a fish" and show him the sign for fish. He shook his head while signing 'fish' and pointed again and signed 'elephant'. I start looking around, and on a bookshelf behind the fish, I saw a small elephant. Silly mama, Matthew knew exactly what he was looking at... it was me who needed corrected.

Down Bedding

In Colorado, a down comforter is a must, I got mine a couple months after we moved here. I got it during a white sale at JC Penny's, so I got a great deal, but it was a difficult decision because there were so many choices and I really did not understand the differences, and neither did my sales person. Today I found a website on How To Buy Down Bedding, a guide on choosing and caring for down comforters. I found it just in time too, a blizzard is expected to roll in tonight and it is time to pull out the comforter. I had no clue how to clean it, until now. Did you know you cannot use regular laundry soap on down? Instead, you should use Dawn Dish Washing soap... who knew!?!

Oh, F***!

This morning that was about the only thing that came out of my mouth. I had a doctor's appointment this morning that I totally forgot about, so when I woke up with only 45 minutes until the appointment and I still had to shower, get dressed, get Matthew to the sitter, and drive to the doctor.

Oh, f***! Garbage day was today, and when I realized it, the truck was two doors down and I was not dressed.

Oh f***! The traffic was crazy, there was construction on the main street to the sitters and I was already running late.

I was only 5 minutes late (they told me to be there 15 minutes early and I was only 10).

The appointment went well, my blood pressure medication is working, and I learned a lot of interesting stuff about my metabolism.

Everyone and their dog decided to call while I was talking to the doctor, so my phone kept buzzing while I was in with the doctor; his pager kept going off too. When I got to the car I was checking the machine and the second call was from the pediatrician's office, they want to see Christopher tomorrow to discuss what the Pediatric Neurologist wrote in his report, and the tests he ordered.

Matthew did fine at the sitters, he only cried twice. My friend kept me for two hours longer than I wished to stay, and because of that Matthew did not nap and has been a pill today.

On the drive home, my check engine light came on again... OMG! I hate this van!!!!
There is no school tomorrow or Friday, so I will be damned if I am stuck with the kids at home without a car, but I will be calling the dealership tomorrow to set up an appointment to get it fixed....again.

Babies Love Mexican Food

I wish I had my camera with me to record the mess Matthew made tonight at dinner. After Taekwondo we went out to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, 3 Margaritas. As a bonus, on Tuesday kids eat free with each paid adult meal. Well, we decided to try giving Matthew his own meal on his own plate with his own spoon. Usually we just feed him off of our plates, but his appetite has been so big lately we figured what he did not finish, Austin would.

Austin only ate a quarter of Matthew's quesidillas, and Matthew ate about half of the food on his own plate, and a generous helping of whole beans off of Daddy's plate since Matthew prefers whole beans over refried beans.

Oh, and apparently babies like mild salsa on chips, but LOVE hot salsa sucked off of chips.

Keyloggers

Recently there has been a lot of problems with teenagers and pre-teens and Myspace. As much as I would love to keep my kids off the Internet as they get more interested in the social aspect of the Internet, I know that is not a plausible option. However I do think important steps can be taken to prevent adolescents safe. For one, computers and kids should be kept in plain sight at all times.

Parents should also install security software that prevents access to particular sites, or a Keylogger, like this one from SpectorSoft. The nice thing about keylogger software is that is records all keystrokes made in instant messages, e-mail, chats, MySpace, search engines, as well as see which websites are being visited, which files are being shared, and the sequence of it all.

The other feature I like is the Top 10 Summaries.

Many parents and employers like to have all of the recorded activity to review, but also like to have a quick overview sometimes. Top 10 summaries will give you insight to the most common things that are done on the computer. You will know the people they chat with the most, who they are emailing more than anyone else, what their favorite web sites are, the programs they use more than others, and what they like to search for more than anything else. This simple to understand summary of activity is a time saver that still provides you with a lot of information to a person's online activity.

The other thing I like about this program is that it is all inclusive and allows you to do many of the things parental control software allows you to do, such as Internet access blocking which can restrict anything from specific websites, to specific programs. You can also monitor your own password to see if others are using it besides you. You can also chose which Windows Identity to monitor, so you can monitor your children, but not your spouse. And with Stealth Technology, no one needs to know you are running the keylogging software, but you.

No wonder SpectorSoft is a PC Magazine Double Award winner!!

Matthew’s Taekwondo Cuteness

Tonight, while at Taekwondo Matthew was super cute. There was another little boy there who was two, and he was pretty loud and obnoxious. He kept growling at Matthew who would then run to me and bury his head in my lap and sign 'hurt'. The other little boy would then steal his toys and yell "MINE!" at Matthew, who would run to me and sign 'help' so I could get his toy back for him. He is pretty effective with his communication skills and his signing for us to meet his needs.

I guess why I find this especially ironic because back in July the roles were reversed when Matthew was the bully, and Zane was the one signing help. Read about it here. Karma, baby!!!

Cisco Networking and Storage

As my husband gets more serious into his networking degree he is looking to get more serious equipment, not only for home, but for work. In our opinion, Cisco is the leader in networking technology, but can also carry a heavy price tag. My husband and I were both drooling over this website, which overs Used Cisco products. They offer used Cisco Servers/Workstations, Networking Hardware, and SAN/Storage/Backup. Vibrant offers up to a 90% discount on used and discontinued Cisco hardware. All their products are fully tested and backed by a Vibrant Warranty so you can purchase in confidence. And because they keep a large inventory of hardware, immediate shipping is available.

Beach Cruisers

Tonight over dinner the family was reminiscing about the vacation we took a few years back camping down the Oregon coast and how much fun we had. I remember seeing these great retro looking bikes that were very basic, yet stylish, they looked so comfortable. Tonight I found out that they are an actual type of bike, not just amazingly restored bikes, called Beach cruisers. The seats look so comfortable with springs built right into them.

Do you cyber??

Ok, so this is a little late, but here is my rant. I hate being hit on, I hate being flirted with, when I avoid the bar scene and do not accept unsolicited IMs.

Well, the other night (Friday or Saturday?), Bobby had gone to bed early and I was going to go to my regular chat room to find that MSN nixed the chat rooms. D'oh! So, I went to a parenting chat on Yahoo! thinking I would be safe, right? WRONG!! At first the chatting was very innocent... "how old are your kids?" etc. But out of nowhere a troll IMs me and thinking he is innocent enough I keep talking. He tells me is married, a proud dad, here in Colorado, etc. Then he tells me he is looking at my profile and I have beautiful eyes and that he thinks I am sexy.

So I tell him I do not appreciate that line of chat and close out the window. He keeps talking, so I have fun with it. I talk about cloth diapering and how annoying it is when sh*t sticks to the diaper and is hard to wash out. There are a few other things I said, but I won't repeat them on my blog because it was pretty gross. When he started asking things about what I do to my husband in our bedroom, I offered to go wake my husband so he could go ask HIM.

Anyways, I learned my lesson... from now on, anyone who tries to IM me to cyber gets put on ignore... I am not that kind of girl! (Unless you are my husband, then IM me anytime...LOL)

My love affair with PayPerPost.

It began about 3 weeks ago, in my quest for some extra cash, Terri and I started talking about our friend Gina who started working with PayPerPost. I signed up and was approved within a few short days. It did not take long before I realized how easy posting was and how little time it required each day. I chose what I want to say about companies that I chose from a list (between 75-125 choices). I also get to widen my reader base as well as learn about exciting companies, products, services, and opportunities.

In the last 18 days I have earned $299. I will start getting paid in 12 days and I plan on letting it accumulate in savings to go towards a new dining room table, Christmas, and then birthdays. I also plan on adding a little extra to my credit card payments to pay down the bills faster. Of course this is a long term plan, I am thinking a couple months down the road as the savings builds.

Messy Baby

Tonight we had spaghetti, broccoli and french bread. My baby ate it all and LOVED it. There is a reason why we made him eat naked in a disposable diaper though! This is all in response to Terri's Post on Zane & pasta. Of course, Matthew is no stranger to red pasta, he has been eating red pasta since he first started eating table food. Of course, he has pretty much always had table foods, as he hated baby food from the start. I made 99.9% of his 'baby' food until he started eating the same foods as us.

Egg Donations

During my quest to get pregnant with Matthew, I had a lot of online support through yahoogroups and INCIID and met many people going through much more advanced procedures than mine such is IVF. Several women relied on the help of an Egg Donor to get pregnant.

I always admired the women who were willing to donate their eggs in order to help a stranger achieve the dream of starting or growing a family. Egg Donations is not only emotionally rewarding, but has a nice financial payout as well. The average compensation rate for egg donation is around $5,000, but the feeling of helping an infertile couple I have heard is more rewarding.

"You are NOT the father!"

Ok, I admit it, I have a guilty little secret... I love Maury Povich's DNA shows. I honestly only catch it about once a month. I LOVE it when a woman comes out and says she is ONE THOUSAND percent sure that Darnel is her baby's daddy because she NEVER had sex with anyone else and then the DNA comes back and Maury says "Darnel, you are NOT the father!"

Today's show REALLY made me mad though. How can these men be so cruel?? There was a man who denied his tiny 2 pound premature baby. A woman who almost died because of a tumor she had in pregnancy who proved he was the father of her baby. The one that made me turn the channel was a boy who came out calling the mother of his child the worst names ever, he brought along his mom to insult this poor little girl too, and even AFTER the test proved he was the dad he continued to say it was not his because "she called 9 days after we had sex to tell me she was pregnant, that kid aint mine!" Uh dude? DNA doesn't lie! In fact, all the deadbeats were proved to be the father. The only men who were not the fathers were the men who were actively taking a role in the child's life who had no clue the children they had been raising for a year or more belonged to another man. That just breaks my heart.

I guess I should not be surprised. My relationship with Austin is proof that DNA does not build a bond, and that a parent who is the biological parent does not necessarily have a stronger bond that a non-biological parent.

On a different note, Megan Mullally has her own daytime talk show, she is best known for her role as Karen Walker from the show Will and Grace; she is just as cute as can be. I did not have a chance watch beyond guest Kristin Chenoweth who I loved in RV and saw last night in The Pink Panther.

Netflix, a love story

A couple months back, when I was getting ready to go to Washington, Bobby and I decided to try Netflix and see if we liked it. We are not huge movie buffs, nor do we rent movies much or subscribe to movie channels... however we were constantly buying movies and either not watching them, or watching them once. We figured Netflix may be the solution to our buying problem because we purchased because we both hate the hassle of renting and returning. Since joining Netflix, I have purchased one DVD, Rent, from Netflix itself for under $6. To say we are saving a bundle is an understatement. Just in the last few months, I seriously think we have saved enough to pay for Netflix for an entire year!

Now to find a place that pays a reasonable price to buy used movies... anyone have any ideas??

Have you ever seen this show?

I love Court TV, the forensics, the crime drama, the gore, I love it all. Terri used to blame my insomniac of my Court TV before bed habit; especially when my husband was out of town on business and I was jumpier than normal. I also <3 Parco, PI. He's a NY Private Detective who gets some seriously unusual cases. The one we watched last night seemed like a 'simple' sexual harassment suit, and ended in foreign models unknowingly trafficking drugs! Only in NY!!
Anyways, check your local listings, its a great show!

Fire Arms

When I was younger, my dad used to always take me hunting; I am a pretty good shot too! I never used a scope until I was much older; I think maybe 11 or 12? I could not believe the difference in my aim... I went from nicking a quarter 100 feet, to nailing it dead on at 200. Now that my boys are getting older, I would like to get them into firing real firearms, to teach them respect of what it can do, and gun safety. They have already shot pellet guns, but I think using a 22 would give them a good healthy respect of the dangers of firearms.

Tonight while searching for gun safes, I ran across this site that sells night vision goggles, binoculars & night vision scopes. They offer a wide selection of Telescopes, Binoculars, Rifle Scopes, Spotting Scopes, free shipping for orders over $29.95, buying guides and support forums. They also offer the Best Deal Guarantee on Bushnell, Nikon, ATN, Leupold, Barska, Steiner, Meade, Celestron, Swarovski, Leica. I have been looking through the Holiday Gift Guide because I still don't know what to get my dad this year.

For the record, I was not able to find the safe I was looking for, but I found a ton of other great accessories that will definitely be on my shopping list when we are ready to buy.
