Job, House, and other unanswered questions.

Well, it looks like we aren't going to be moving anytime soon. Bobby was not the first pick, he was second, so unless the #1 person declines the job, this is not it. There is a good chance that Bobby knows who the #1 person is, and if #1 did get the job, it would open up a job here in Colorado in the company he interviewed for. Staying here in Colorado would be good for us, but it means going through the waiting process again and there is still no guarantee! Bobby has already given #1's boss his resume, and #1 is rallying for him, but there is no guarantee. This is so frustrating!

House... obviously not moving means not selling, so we are staying put.

I'm feeling pretty bummed out, but I am not heartbroken. Bobby said they kept encouraging him to keep trying because they want him to be part of the team.

We were close, but I guess it just was not meant to be. Lets hope the next one is it!

He’ Baaaaaa-aaaaack!

Jr. weatherman is back. He took a long break, about 1 year to focus more on geography, reading the encyclopedia, collecting almanacs, normal Christopher-isms, but weather has not ruled the home in a while.

At his peak, he would turn the TV from cartoons to The Weather Channel. The above picture is Halloween, 2004; Christopher's 7th birthday, Chris is dressed as... a weatherman! The school library had run out of weather books that he had not read, and for Christmas he wanted a thermometer/barometer. We did have to record Storm Stories for him on TLC a couple months back, but I have to admit, I thought they were cool too.

....But, tonight at 9:30 Chris comes running downstairs claiming we MUST change the TV to TWC, or if he can watch my TV because he HAS to watch his most favorite show ever, Storm Stories. So, next to me sits a zombie child, who is glued to the TV watching about a Tornado... gasping once in a while when they say things like "super cell" and inserting little facts about tornados here and there.

"Whoa!! That is an F6!!!"

Welcome back Jr. Weatherman... we missed you!

Life Lesson: Patience

I think my life lesson is patience. It seems like everywhere I go, or everything I do tests said patience. For starters, I have three sons and a husband who is sometimes as difficult as all three... THAT is a test, and I feel I am doing quite well passing that test. I would give myself a B+ or even an A- in that area. TIME is the lesson I am failing at. My weakness is to just sit back and stay busy while time passes.

A watched pot never boils.

Boy, don't I know that one! I am such a planner that the unknown just drives me crazy!

So, no news about the interview yet.

Now news about unnamed MIA person.

No news from the realtor yet.

BUT, I may have found someone to take my chinchillas.

Hurry up and wait!

And he’s back

Mr GQ is back from his interview and feeling good about how it went. We should know an answer in 10-14 days. There is so much more to it, but I just don't feel like dissecting it all to try to find signs on the answer that may or may not be there. To me trying to dissect what this person said and what they may be hinting is like analyzing symptoms of a pregnancy to determine gender, so I have given it to the universe. 'Ca cera, cera'. Oh, I guess there were something like 50 applicants and 6 interviews, so its kind of a nice pat on the back either way.

…and away he goes….

Well, Bobby should be landing in Dallas/Ft. Worth in about 20 minutes, and bording the puddle jumper plane in about an hour. I expect I will hear from him in about 2 hours. We got up early this morning to make sure his bags were all packed, and then killed some time at the store and then went to Chili's for lunch. We made a quick stop at home and then it was to the airport. Matthew cried as soon as he walked away and then grabbed onto the passenger side of the van and started yelling "DADA!!" when I was trying to buckle him in. It was pretty heartbreaking. I now have three cuddle buddies next to me on the couch watching Matthew's favorite Sesame Street DVD.

One, Two….

So, last night I taught Matthew a new trick, and of course as soon as a whipped out the video camera he quit doing it, so daddy helped. He's such a ham.

Its thundering outside, so I am hoping for a nice wet thunderstorm sometime soon, we really need the rain.

Bobby is all packed and ready to go tomorrow afternoon. I'm feeling pretty relaxed right now, but something tells me I am in for a few more sleepless nights before this is all over with.

Strogberry, Spacecat, and biker boy.

This is the artwork Austin made as his last art project of the year. I asked him to make up a story about the origin of his work.

"This is a strogberry, and it comes from the bottom of the ocean. It eats poisonous fish. It came out of the water and someone was able to capture it by hitting in the jaw with a hammer and leaving a dent in it. I was able to buy it for $3 and a piece of gold. I gave it a Smartee and its still trying to figure out how to eat it. I gave it a baseball cap and he figured out how to put it on by himself. I trained him to be a good frog, so now he does not need a cage. He is still trying to escape the house to go back to the bottom of the ocean where he lived. Sometimes he gets so mad he beats me senseless. I don't know why, but his eyes grow bigger when he's mad, and when he's happy his eyes get so small they are invisible. His name is Dakota".

Here is the cat Christopher made me for Mother's Day. Here is his story:

"Here is a cat from outer space. Do you see the yellow spot? It's from the sun. He was playing on the moon until astronauts captured him with a net. The astronauts gave him to me because I was looking for a cat for Mother's Day. It came without a body. It floats because it was from space. He was protecting Earth from meteors. He put the the meteor shield on so we won't have meteors. His name is Mason. He likes to surf at the beach. He's a lazy cat, but sometimes he makes really big messes. But Austin's frog cleans it up. From now on he's going to be our decoration and we trained him not to make any more messes".

Matthew was given a ride on bike today by my friend Julia, her daughter is now 4 and does not need it. He really likes sitting on it, but can only make it move backwards.

Finally, some news!!

His itinerary came today he boards here Sunday at 3:30pm MST, arrives in Tx at 7:30 CST. His interview is Monday 9am CST, then he leaves Texas at 3:30 pm CST and arrives home at 7:30pm MST. We had to book the hotel ourselves, but will be reimbursed, which works out GREAT since I was able to book through Hotels.com and get my service charge back from the cancelled Denver trip. I REALLY hope they let us know right away if he has the job or not, waiting sucks!

Mother's Day 2006

I had a great day! Was awoken by breakfast in bed, gifts, cards and a bakers dozen long stemmed red roses. What a treat! Other than losing power, and bratty children, today was perfect. I got what I really wanted for mothers's day, time. Bobby gave me his time and helped me paint the stairway & hall. Its a shade lighter than my front room, a very nice sandy brown. We will be putting on a second coat in about 30 minutes... and hopefully doing a couple hours of painting each of Bobby's days off.

I’ve got the grays….

Are they trying to kill me? The company Bobby is interviewing for changed the date of his interview to the 22nd. He will fly out the 21st, interview & return on the 22nd. Just when I thought this wait could not get any longer!!

Hear that popping sound?? That is my gray hairs popping out because this situation has me stressed like you would not believe!!

On top of all this, Bobby does not even HAVE those days off, so he is going to have to trade with someone. Anyone want to kidnap me and whisk me away to a spa until the 21st?? PLEASE???

Why counldn't this news come BEFORE we canceled our vacation for this interview??? I SO need a vacation right now.

Happy Birthday my dear Sunshine

Austin turned 10 today. I cannot believe I have a tween! This is such a momentous day for him, he is finally in the two digits. He is a pre-teen, a remarkable young man indeed.

Austin:
1). You are honest
2). You have a huge heart
3). You are responsible
4). You are dependable
5). You are a good son
6). You are a great brother
7). You are trustworthy
8). You are a good student
9). You strive to improve yourself
10). You have set high goals for yourself in life, and you will acheive them

Austin, you have blessed our lives in ways you may never understand. May all your hopes and dreams come true. You bring so much joy and laughter to the lives of all you touch. We are so happy to have been there to see the young man you have become, you make us so proud. You are so special because you are you. We love you son! -Mom, Dad, Christopher & Matthew

Not flesh of my flesh, Nor bone of my bone, But still miraculously my own. Never forget for a single minute, You didn't grow under my heart - but in it --- Fleur Conkling Heylinger

I am REALLY going to be a bundle of nerves when I drop him off at the airport!

Teething HELL

Can someone please remind me that I lived through teething once before with Christopher, and that I WILL survive with Matthew?

Matthew is getting 5 teeth and once... 4 molars and missing #8 on the bottom. Three molars have already broken through and I have yet had a day this week where one we were not both in tears. I hate seeing my little boy suffer... On a positive note, my new Ergo baby carrier arrived, so I have been able to strap him to me and go about my business.

If teething was not enough, we have been dealing with a diaper rash, and a cold and fever. All the fun things that come with new teeth.

We will survive... we will make it through this... we can do it!
