Waiting for daddy

Austin has started a new game where he hides from daddy and waits for him to get home, where he can jump out and surprise him.

Two backround facts....

Bobby is working a job where he gets home between 9:45-10:15pm.

Austin has been my morning child who can easily get up at 6am, but cannot seem to be able to stay up past 9pm.

Tonight was one of those nights....

I was on the phone talking with my mom, looking for Austin so he could talk to her too. I called his name, no answer, I looked in his bed, no Austin. I started to panic... and Christopher told me he found him. I guess hiding from daddy made him sleepy. This is the second time this week he has hidden and fallen asleep. Last time was behind the entertainment center. Silly boy!!

Mom is an idiot

Apparently I have no clue when I made the no kicking and hitting rule in the house. I know boys will be boys, but come on now! Am I raising boys or Neanderthals? So then unnamed children were wrestling after I cornered them both for the exact thing earlier and needless to say glasses were broken and I neither have the funds nor insurance to replace them. I am so frustrated I could cry! Husband is working again, and today was a snow day, so the children and I have been cooped up in this house for 48 hours. Both children are restricted from electronics, both for poor judgment at school. I am out of ideas with these two; they are so sneaky and defiant at times. I need to hot bath and a good book!

Soooo Sweet!

My birthday was yesterday and I was not expecting anything from anyone but myself (Bobby told me to buy my own gifts), but to my amazement Austin & Christopher saved up their PAW point and got me a candle and some chocolates from the school store. They also made me birthday cards! They had me in tears, they are so sweet!

Matthew is ONE!

I have been trying to write this all day, but I keep getting choked up. Matthew is likely my last child and I am savoring every moment of every day with my BABY, and try as I might, he just keeps getting older and older and it's so sad to think I will never have this moment back again. I love seeing the little toddler he is becoming. I love watching him find joy in the little things in life... the laughter when he realizes the ball goes into the round hole, and the cube in the square hole. I love his sense of adventure as he learns that with a little effort, he can climb this toy to that toy, and stand up tall and climb on top of the toy box. I love seeing him light up when I enter his room in the morning to bring him into my room to nurse him. I love how he growls "mama" when he wants a bit of something I have. Before I know it, he will be getting second place in the science fair and getting notes sent home from the teacher for being so precocious. It all goes by too fast.

Matthew is my firecracker! Not a difficult baby, but definitely a spirited child. He knows what he wants, and he will tell you in his own way. If you do not give into his demands he will melt into a full blown fit of hitting and screaming, and head butting. His fits came earlier than Christopher's ever did, but so far, Christopher still hold the Emmy for "Best Dramatic Performance in a Tantrum" and its likely an award Matthew will not be able to take.

So, I guess all you can do is hold your children close, hold them and love them... no matter how old they are, and cherish every single moment. Life is precious, life is short, and children grow up way too fast!

I am going to go have a nice therapeutic cry now, and hold my three sons close, tomorrow they will be a day older.

Sicks

Don't get me wrong, I am happy to have him working, but man Bobby's hours suck. Now that he is done with training he leaves around noon and is not home until 10pm. I feel like he's missing all the great time after school to play with the kids, catch up on their days, and sit down as a family and eat dinner together. It also made it tough when I was sick last week. Nothing worse than waiting for the kids to get home from school so they could take care of Matthew and I, I was relying on the help of an 8 and 9 year old! Turned out, Austin got it too so he was puking all day too. Christopher had his earlier in the week, so at least I knew he would be ok. Now Matthew and I have a cold and Chris got sent home from school today with a fever.... will this ever end?? I have so much to do to prepare for Matthew's birthday tomorrow, but I cannot leave Christopher alone and I have no one to watch him, and he feels too yucky to go. At least if my husband had normal hours, I could just wait until quitting time, but the bakery is closed before then and I have to get the cake. Uhhhg.
